Sexual exploitation and prostitution
The RQCALACS is active on the issue of prostitution with the Concertation des luttes contre l'exploitation sexuelle (CLES). Since 2010 it has participated in many actions to enhance public awareness about prostitution and sexual exploitation of women.
In the past two years, the Canadian coalition on the abolition of prostitution was established and made great efforts to influence the federal government to enact a law that would criminalize the act of buying sexual services and the sexual exploitation of women. This work followed the Bedford decision by the Supreme Court in 2013 that struck down existing law as unconstitutional.
